Alleluia – Winter Concert 2024
A large and appreciative audience gathered for SPS’s winter concert Alleluia on Saturday 30 November 2024
This is what one of our audience had to say:
I absolutely ADORED the Alleluia concert! I especially loved the Sound Forth the Trumpet in Zion! Everyone had obviously practised so much and it really paid off. The handbells, tambourines and bells really made the Alleluia Song of Gladness uplifting and joyful. My brother loved the Leonard Cohen Hallelujah. Also, thank you to everyone who brought delicious cakes. It was amazing.

The Next SPS Concert
The next SPS concert, A Season to Sing, will be on Saturday 14th June 2025 at 3:00pm at St Francis Church, Bournville B30 2AA.
A choral re-imagining of Vivaldi’s enduringly popular The Four Seasons. Composed for 2025 by Joanna Forbes L’Estrange in the 300th anniversary year of Vivaldi’s most famous work, A Season to Sing weaves into these well-loved melodies various texts from poetry and the Bible on the subject of spring, summer, autumn and winter! As one of the 55 international commissioning choirs, SPS is excited to perform this work to celebrate the centenary of St Francis’ Church.

Inclusion
SPS prides itself on being inclusive. There is no audition, no upper age limit on membership, and a positive welcome to people from excluded groups.
We give buddying support to singers who do not read music and provide rehearsal sound files to aid learning the notes.
We can adapt copies of the music for people with different visual needs.
We have a safeguarding policy and a named member of the committee to look after the needs of any vulnerable member.
Above all, we are a friendly choir, encouraging everyone to give the joy of singing a try!
How much does it cost to sing with Selly Park Singers?
The current membership fee is £50 per term, payable at the start of each term
